Testimonials from Two of the Best
Below are two testimonials about the Dick Baumgartner`s Basketball Shooting
Camp from two coaches of highly respected girl`s basketball programs in Illinois
and Arkansas. They are considered to be two of the best in the country.
Coach Tanya Johnson
Tanya Johson was inducted into the
Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame
this Spring. She has coached over 500 wins with a 79% won-lost record.
The National Federation
of high coaches honored her in 1997 and 1998. by naming her
National
Girls Basketball Coach of the year. Tanya has won many tournament titles including
two Illinois State Championships. She has coached several
state and national ranked teams.
Below are some quotes from Tanya Johnson about our shooting camp.
"Our program at Loyola Academy continues to average over 20 wins a season for
over a 20 year period. I can attribute a great deal of this success to my players
attending Dick`s shooting camp. We have been coming to camp for 20 seasons..
Every player in our program at the varsity level has attended Dick`s camp a
minimum of one time. In 1997 & 1998 we won the Illinois State Championship.
We had 5 players from those teams attend division one schools.
Every one of
those players attended camp.
There are many camps for players to attend during the summer. Dick
Baumartner`s Shooting Camp is the number one camp that I endorse for my players
to attend".
Coach Carla Crowder
Coach Crowder is the head girls coach at Cabot High School in Cabot, Arkansas.
She has done a tremendous rebuilding job in her two years at Cabot High School.
In her two years at Cabot, her teams have won 49 games and lost 6. They won
two conference championships the last two years (none before), finished second
in Elite Eight in 2005, and were State Finalists in 2004.
She has won a lot of awards and tournaments through the years. In 2004 she
was honored by the National Federation of high school
coaches by naming her National Girls Basketball Coach of the
year.
Below are some quotes from coach Carla Crowder about the Dick
Baumgartner Basketball Shooting Camp:
"After years of study and putting his ideas to work with thousands of young men
and women, Coach Baumgartner brings the
latest techniques and drills to you,
your staff and players".
"Players are drilled twice daily with these proven shooting techniques. They
learn easily from them because they are broken down into
understandable language, with clear, concise,
demonstrations. Drilling correctly with high repetitions is the
tried and true method for teaching that many overlook to
different degrees in their efforts to prepare their teams".
"Coaches can get the most for their players by taking them to the Dick
Baumgartner shooting camps. After 15 of my players came to camp
last summer the light came on for these players and almost twice as many
of my players will attend the shooting camp this summer which is held at
Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.
If players want to learn to shoot and score better this is
the camp which I recommend".
Dick Baumgartner thought the best comment that Coach Crowder made to him was
"I
wished that I had brought my players to you sooner".
Attend The Camp That Will Help You To Be The Best You Can Be
Dick Baumgartner`s Basketball Shooting Camp is an
offensive fundamental camp
with the
emphasis on teaching shooting. We believe that we provide the best shooting
techniques, drills and one-on-one instruction of any shooting camp. We are also second
to no one in teaching other offensive fundamentals such as: dribbling, faking, driving, and
finishing, etc.. Our offensive techniques will help you to play the
shooting guard, point guard, and wing positions better.
Besides the very good instruction and drilling our camp also provides a well
rounded program. Players play in 3 games a day, and participate in several
contests during the week.
Picking a shooting camp to attend
Players need to realize that if they
truly want to become better
or great shooters
and scorers they need to pick a camp that drills well and gives great one-on-one
instruction. There are
no short cuts. Drilling with a team, on your own, with an
instructor, or at a really qualified offensive fundamental camp is necessary for
improvement and excellence. We believe we can help you reach your goals and
full potential at our shooting camp.
There are two testimonials which show how well we teach offensive fundamentals.
The first is from players who have attended other camps before our shooting camp.
They say. "we have learned more at the Dick Baumgartner Basketball Shooting Camp
than all the other camps put together". This is the number one comment we get about
our shooting camp.
The second testimonial is from basketball coaches who send their sons and
daughters to camps. They say, "your camp is our first choice when picking a camp
to send our son or daughter". Many coaches send their sons and daughters to our
camp to learn shooting and other offensive skills.
One-on-One individual shooting instruction
If a player comes to our camp their parents will not have to worry about their
daughter getting individual one-on-one instruction. Dick Baumgartner and six
other coaches trained by him are on duty morning, noon, and night for individual
instruction. This is what they do at camp. The way the camp is structured to teach
shooting is why it provides the best one-on-one instruction. No other camp will
provide the quality and amount of one-on-one instruction we provide. Our total
staff for each week consists of 34 to 39 people (coaches, managers, trainers, etc.).
Each week we have 28 to 32 coaches on our staff.
Increase your range from the free throw line and 3pt line
Girls are strong enough to shoot from the outside and the foul line.
If someone is telling you that you are not strong enough to shoot from these
distances they would not really understand shooting mechanics. Our drills,
techniques, and word usage are so good we will
positively help you with your range.
We easily help girls in the 5th grade through the 12 grade with
their range. For further information please check our section on
long range shooting.
Better committment and better teaching
The number of girls showing a
high skill level in basketball fundamentals has
really increased in the last 10 years. It is believed that young girls and women
are now spending the time necessary to shoot the ball well and also do other
offensive fundamentals well. With this
type of committment added to very good
fundamental instruction, girls will continue to get better and better. Our shooting
camp provides all that a girl needs to excel in shooting and other offensive
fundamentals.
It is also believed that coaches are doing a better job of teaching girls the skills
and fundamentals needed for girls to become more fundamentally sound.
Coaches say after they have worked our shooting camp, they are then more
able to give the girls the shooting drills and techniques needed for them to shoot
better and score better. The coaches also say after working our camp, they feel
better qualified to make slight changes when one of their players needs some
correction.
Fundamentals are really necessary
In general, girls even more than boys need to execute fundamentals
correctly. Boys at times can get away with executing fundamentals incorrectly
by compensating with strength. Most girls will not be able to do the same
thing.
Developing strength through body position and balance
Another area which is covered real well in our camp is
body position and balance.
Many individuals say that girls aren`t strong enough to do this skill or that skill.
This is not true. With correct techniques and drills to develop correct body
position and balance, girls will then be strong enough to do all the fundamental
moves that anyone can do. Our techniques and drills will help players to
automatically play strong in a natural way.
An experienced basketball shooting instructor
Coach Baumgartner has had the opportunity to work with more girls on
their shooting than anyone in the U.S.
Each summer he works with and
corrects hundreds and hundreds of player`s shots. He has done this in the girl`s
shooting camps for the last 28 years and in the boys shooting camp for the last
30 years. With this teaching experience and several in-depth studies on
offensive fundamentals, he has developed
the best techniques, and drills to
teach girls to shoot and score.
Overall experience
We work very hard to structure our shooting camps so players will have a
very
rewarding and enjoyable experience during
the week they spend with us. Besides the drills and one-on-one instruction,
the players will have
fun playing 3 games a day,
participating in several contests and experiencing new friendships
with players they play with, drill with, and socialize with.
The facilities (dorms, gym, cafeteria, snack bar) are all close together.
The snack bar and lounge are open to just the girl basketball players from
our camp (9:00 to 10:30 P.M). The supervision and security are
very good.
